SL Orientation Experiences

If you want to register for Second Life (SL), click here.

People new to Second Life must go through a two-step process to get started. First, they register on a website, then they login to SL and go through an orientation (e.g. how to walk around, how to fly, etc.).

Linden Lab (the makers of Second Life) used to let others make their own special registration website and orientation. For example, IBM had a special way to register and orient IBM employees.

I helped make two orientations, one for people who registered on the Second Health website, and one for people who registered on the SciLands website. If you registered at the Second Health website, your new avatar would appear in SL on an island in the sim named UK Virtual Hospital. You would follow a path and read signs along the way to learn how to use Second Life. I terraformed that sim, planted the plants, built the path, and made most of the signs.

If you registered at the SciLands website, your avatar would appear on an island in the sim named SciLands. That island also had a path with signs along the way to explain the basics of SL.
