When I first visited the virtual world Second Life (SL) in 2005, there weren’t many science-related places, so I made a list of them and shared it with some friends.
Around September 2006, I co-founded an SL group named “Science Center” and I would share new places and events with them. The Science Center group had a building with exhibits on the Info Islands. (The Info Islands changed over the years and some are still around, with the Community Virtual Library as the leading organization. The Science Center group’s building is gone but the group still exists.)
The Science Center group has always been an informational group, sharing updates about new science-related places and upcoming science-related events.
Over time, I created a website for the Science Center group, listing science-related places, events, research, videos, links, and more. It was created using the old “Google Sites” service and no longer exists.
