I just came back from the Safeway store near where I live. Had my timing been slightly different, I might not have come back at all.
I’ve had a cold for the past week and I think it’s mostly gone now so I thought I should celebrate. When I was in the Safeway, I spied the oatmeal raisin cookies in the bin by the East entrance. They make them fresh every day, so they’re thick and chewy. I took one.
A few minutes later, I was at the checkout till, and I was also facing in the direction of the oatmeal raisin cookie bin.
BOOM!
My first thought was, “Lightning? It is overcast, but I haven’t heard any thunder today…”
Then some of the big storefront windows beside the cookie bin shattered. A vehicle had plowed into the side of the Safeway, right through the spot I’d been standing, into the pies and muffins!
I hope nobody was hurt. The vehicle backed out soon after it’s arrival, so I guess the driver is okay. I didn’t want to stand around getting in the way of the police, so I left by the west entrance.
Cookies are more dangerous than I thought.
